The Beginners Guide to Vegetarian Health

By Aran Mathai

Maybe you want to become vegetarian but are worried about health issues(?) or maybe your veggie now and are not feeling to good? Well today’s your lucky day! This guide was written just for you.

What’s a vegetarian?
Before we get going lets clarify what a vegetarian (as far as this article is concerned) is. A vegetarian is simply someone who does not eat any meat including fish and chicken, etc. This also includes Vegan’s (people who do not eat any animal products including milk, eggs, honey etc.)

The journey of discovery
This guide is your starting point; you begin here and find your own path to a happy, healthy, veggie life. This is not an answer book, but can be used as a start of a quest. Even if that quest is just some Internet searches! But take the chance and find out more.

Meat
If you are interested in health, and you probably are if you’re reading this, then you may like to consider what’s in the making of the meat you eat. In your journey of discovery you may find out more about the meat in your local supermarket and you may not end up thinking it’s a very healthy option.

Protein, vitamin and minerals
This could be your biggest concern about going vegetarian after all, you have probably grown-up with meat and people telling you how healthy it is. Whether it was your mum saying “meat will make you strong” or a poster with “100% chicken” on it someone was feeding you a meat friendly message. But its time to question this and look beyond this.
What ever you are worried about just a quick search will bring you answers. Try this now enter “vegetarian protein” “vegetarian b12″ “vegetarian omega 3″ in to your favourite search engine you may be surprised!

Contact Someone
Get in contact with a local vegetarian group and they should be happy to help also contact a national group and you should be able to obtain a free vegetarian starter pack!

The Wonderful Healing Powers Of Vitamin C

The Wonderful Healing Powers Of Vitamin C

by Paul

Vitamin C for optimum body functions
When it comes to keeping the body’s metabolic processes running smoothly and consistently for optimum health vitamin C has a hand in a vast number of vital functions. Any of the body’s organs, tissues or cells deprived of this extremely wonderful nutrient would soon start to go awry in functioning.

Vitamin C as an immune system builder
The white blood cells are involved in immune defense: They kill off the unwanted foreign matter that invades the body. The types of white blood cells involved in immunity are called the T-cells and macrophages, which vitamin C is involved in the making of. If the immune defense failed to perform its function, then toxicity and disease sets in

Vitamin C as an antioxidant
Damage to the body’s organs, tissues and cells happen by means of reactive molecules called free radicals. These free radicals can cause damage by oxidation. They may come from environmental toxins such as heavy metals, noxious hydrocarbons; herbicides, fungicides, pesticides…or a whole range of chemicals like, for example, nitrosamines from nitrates found in factory Processed foods. Smokers take in free radicals when inhaling…The extent of the damage caused by oxidation can range from aging to a number of chronic conditions such as cancer and cardiovascular disease.

Vitamin C in the maintenance of collagen
Collagen can be found in connective tissue. Skin, bone, teeth intervertebral disks, tendons, ligaments, cartilage and heart valves…are some of the connective tissues that contain collagen. Without collagen our tissues would not have their structural integrity or togetherness. Therefore, a lack of this vital protein could cause some serious illnesses.  Studies have shown that collagen deficiency has been linked to a lack of vitamin C in the diet. Vitamin C has an involvement in the making of collagen in the body.

Vitamin C and common colds prevention
The trick to preventing the common cold is to mega-dose with high amounts of vitamin C the moment when you feel that ickle-tickle in your throat and then carry on with further high doses, allowing for bowel tolerance… Mega-dosing with vitamin C as a way of preventing the common cold and its exact methodology can be found through searching Google.

*Ester-C is the best kind of Vitamin C available on the market. Try one-month treatment (1 x 1000mg a day) and feel the difference!

-All the above benefits through taking vitamin C have been well documented and proven.

Women Today Feel Unhappy - Why?

“It’s no longer a man’s world. Nor is it a woman’s nation. It’s a cooperative, with bylaws under constant negotiation and expectations that profits be equally shared.” reads Time Magazine and their new story on the State of American Women Today.  To read the whole story go to: http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,1930277_1930145_1930309-2,00.html

Is being in control at home and at work makes us truly happy? or Maybe it’s just that as a result  of our busy life we no longer have time for the things that our grandma had.  True happiness? or taking over man’s role?  I SAY NEITHER!

“As Susan Faludi said, the women’s movement wasn’t about happiness.” It may be that women have become more honest about what ails them. Or that they are now free to wrestle with the same pressures and conflicts that once accounted for greater male unhappiness. Or that modern life in a global economy is simply more stressful for everyone but especially for women, who are working longer hours while playing quarterback at home. “Some of the other social changes that have happened over the last 35 years — changes in family, in the workplace — may have affected men differently than women,” Wolfers says. “So maybe we’re not learning about changes due to the women’s movement but changes in society.”

Any thoughts, Ladies?  Are you happy where you are? Do you pay the bills and earn money for the househols? if so, how do you feel about it? Does it make you feel in control?
